Design with Oriental Rugs
Imagine the space you want to create. Consider the purpose and traffic volume of the room when choosing colors and textures.
Start with a rug. The floor becomes the foundation of your design scheme where all eyes are drawn. All the decorative themes of the room should tie into the colors and pattern of the rug.
Look for quality. Good wool has natural oils making it inherently pliable and stain resistant. Shedding and blurry designs are signs of poor workmanship.
Choose a rug for beauty and function. In areas of high traffic such as the entryway, hallway and kitchen, patterned durable wool rugs are best. A colorful detailed rug, such as a fine Persian, can be the crowning piece of a room, or a subtler look can be created with solid or subdued patterns and natural colors.
Don't forget rugs may be nicely displayed on walls and draped over furniture.
Appropriate padding is highly recommended to hold the rug in place and for protection from wear over long-term use.
